Wed Feb 24 2010

When you wake up in the morning there is no telling what the day will bring. After morning chores Nancy and daughter Sarah donated a truckful of shavings and bedding. What a nice surprise. When they left Jim and I gussied up (for us that means changing muck boots and muddy jeans to something a little cleaner) and left for Oroville. We had to get a few things at Walmart. After shopping when we got in the truck Jim called Tawnee at NorCal. She said "I knew you'd call. I almost called you, but I knew you'd call."
We've been friends since they evacuated some of our horses during one of the fires. When we went to pick up our 6 horses we came home with 10. Over half of our horses at Home At Last have come from NorCal. She knows us.
After Jim's call we went back in Walmart and got baby bottles. Then on to a baby store for a playpen and on to our favorite Tractor Supply Store for a few things.

When we got home we set up the playpen. Fiesty cat inspects the playpen and is wondering what now. Something is always going on. Who needs a playpen?
I got Margaret and off we went.
Our friends Su and Jerry of Feather River Gypsy Cobs and friend Margaret wait with me. We had lots of time to talk, wonder and figure out what to do. What are we getting into
Here comes the NorCal truck. What is she bringing us?
Tawnee's truck had 8 baby goats!!! Su and Jerry will take four and so will we. These babies have had a tough start in life.
Tawnee and I took pictures of each other.

Our friends at LAVS had lots of good advice. We're always glad to see them.

Everyone helped carry the little ones to the trucks.

Thanks, everyone.

These babies have their own playpen in the house where it is warm and where they are fed on a regular basis.
If these babies had not been picked up, they would have been left to die-cold, alone and hungry.

Who could throw away something this small and this sweet?
When Beth got home it was love at first sight.

Thank you Nancy and Sarah for the bags of bedding. They really came in handy.

Thank you Rori at Almost Perfect @ Gammie's for the donated playpen. If you need baby things (or something for an animal) visit Rori at 2136 Myers St Oroville 530-532-7952

Thank you Look Ahead for your help and advice.

Thank you NorCal for our babies and for all you do for the critters. You knew we'd take them, didn't you?
