ROSIE LIVES !!!!

The morning started as usual. Two hours for feeding and watering and another hour taking hay to Margaret who has three of our horses for the summer and fall. Chardonnay, Sunny and Aurora are there. Of course I didn't take any pictures.
Then Dr. Darling and Kelly came.

First up was Patches. He needed neutering . We don't need more babies. The kitchen counter served as the operating table.

That's one drowsy kitten.

Princess stayed closed to keep an eye on her little friend. Fiesty remembered his surgery and stayed far far away.
Next it was time to check on Frankie. Earlier Callie had asked to be let out. It was good for her and really bad for the roses.

"Wait for us," said the goats. "Don't start yet."

"OK. You can start now."
Frankie is healing beautifully. A little clean up and that was that.

Moon Dancer is never far from Frankie's side. A thorough check shows everything is great.

A little medicine, a disposable baby diaper , some vet wrap, and the neck sleeve finishes the process. Well done Doc and Frankie.
The goats approve, too. Frankie did not want to be left out.
Belle got a hello and a quick check-up.
Charles is a little thin, but doing well. Dr D likes his progress. His eye was removed when he first came to Home At Last.

Dancing Drum's abcess is healed. She looks good for a 30 year old Thoroughbred.

Star always likes a closeup of his soft nose.

Chance is the 3 year old Thoroughbred whose knee was fractured on the race track. He is doing well, too. It's OK for him to be trained for easy trail riding.

Next came Juan's exam. His hoof is turning and ligaments are stretching. Dr D praised Aaron for excellent work. It will take about a year to be right.
Juan loved all the attention. Molly wanted some , too.

OK. Now for the big one. What is Rosie's prognosis?

Her teeth and hooves were checked.

There is nothing here that can't be fixed. Hurray!!! Rosie gets to have her teeth done, some extra hoof care and lots of extra food. Sweet, lovable Rosie gets to live.
Rosie followed Kelly up to the truck for dental work.

Being a little dopey helps getting through the dental care.
Nice tongue.

Just about done.

Rinse, spit, get your shots, and into the drunk tank you go.

Jim moves the calves so Rosie can recover in there.

What a love.

Final shot and in you go.

End of that job. Just one more thing to do.

Mac had a tumor on his eyelid. The muzzle is for safety.
Patches has recovered from his surgery and wants to know what's happening to Mac.

You can't help, Patches. Move over.

I'm back. Hey, Mac. They did my other end.

Just a quick snip and the tumor is gone.

Is he going to be OK? Can I help?
Fiesty came to make sure Mac is OK.

All the critters are fine. Rosie will be back in her stall for dinner, as will Callie. Patches took Mac's chew toy and played with it all afternoon. Mac had a good dinner and is ready to go back outside. Frankie and Moon Dancer are calling for their dinner. Juan is wandering around his pen and we are so grateful that Rosie has a chance to spend more time at Home At Last.
