Yesterday and Today

Monday started with an incredibly beautiful sunrise. Living in the country means there are so many opportunities to see nature at her best.

It just kept getting more and more beautiful.

Jessie and Jenny were waiting to come out of the big turnout. Jenny has been getting a little too thin and we wanted her to have an opportunity to eat all she wants. It was another case of human-equine non-verbal communication.
For two days I have been trying to get the girls to come to a gate- any gate- to be let out. They didn't seem to pay any attention, but yesterday morning they were standing at the gate waiting.
Dobbin was thrilled to have his ladies back. The hee haw greetings were touching.

The happy threesome meanders all over. Jenny has once again gotten friendly and even shy Jessie is coming close enough to eat out of our hands. Jessie was a BLM donkey who was badly beaten because she didn't take to being a pack animal.

Since I hate having my picture taken friend Anna took this with out my knowledge. It is, however, my best side.
Anna came for a visit so we could exchange gifts. We have rules. The gift must be hand made, from a yard sale or from a thrift shop. She made jam for Jim and a hand made towel hair wrap for me. She also found a darling donkey ornament that will hang in the bathroom all year long.
For her I found a beautiful angel bird feeder at Jeannie's Consignment and added a bag of bird seed.

Patches found the warm spot again and stretched as long as he could to soak up every last bit of heat. Good night, sweet kitty. See you in the morning.
(Remember the old saying Good night. Sleep tight. Don't let the bedbugs bite? Guess that holds true now with the huge infestations some places have).

Lots of rain last night and lots and lots of fog today. Are you weather sensitive? I am. I love the wind, the fog, the rain and the first (and only first) warm days of summer. I get like the horses and want to run around kicking up my heels. When I was young my favorite times to ride were in the drizzle and fog.
Everything seems to be exciting, mysterious and fun. Love having to put on a coat and maybe gloves, knowing that the cold air is killing the nasty flies.
Dobbin appears to be a figment of our imaginations.
The back deck greeters waited not so patiently for breakfast. Now there are 5 donkeys-Jonathan, Baby Jane, Dobbin, Jenny and Jessie, 2 mules Callie and Juan, 1 mini Gracie and two big horses Quest and Sparkle, who mug us when they see a grain bucket. Maggie B, Sugar, Posey, Julian and Banjoe can't get to us but they sure can holler when they see us.
Hold on, kids, I'll be there in a minute.

Letting the cat out of the bag used to be a problem. Getting Feisty out of the bag is a bigger one. Soon after this picture Patches saw him and the bag boxing was on.

Patches watched the critters from the bedroom window. I wonder what he thinks of the passing parade of animals? I know he'd like to join them, but we can't trust the dogs with him.

Our new website has a store!! What will these geniuses think of next? Take a peek and see if there is anything you like. Part of the proceeds go to Home At Last.
Thank you Nancy P and Mary R for your Christmas donations.
Supposed to rain really hard on Sat. so not sure whether or not we'll be at Tractor Supply. Don't want the horses to have to stand out in the weather if they don't have to.
