Close Ups and Flies

Patches has found that the tax paper box is a purrfect resting spot. DO NOT DISTURB.

Jim and Brian get the tractor ready for feeding. The goats are playing king of the mountain.

Juan joins Rosie and Sparkle behind the house for a good meal. The warm weather has brought many mares into heat.It also brought out flies. Sparkle spent much of his day warding off the advances of other geldings. He did some pretty good cutting horse moves to keep Marnie away from Rosie

Many of the horses wanted close ups today. Jesse walked right up to the camera to make sure I got a good shot of him. He wants you to know that as a 30+ year old boy he can still fire with those back legs. Marnie thought he might give Jesse a shove but Jesse was not about to move.

This is what a mudamino looks like.

Another boy who wanted noticed today was Leeso. He is such a love. Notice he has a blue eye on the brown patch and a brown eye on the white side. He is a tricolored paint- 3 years old. He was asking to go out, but there were too many out already. If he comes to the barn tomorrow I will let him out with the group.

He is a gentle boy and should be easy to train. He is on the waiting list.

Isn't he a beauty?

Because of his back problem he was going to be slaughtered. He has many friends in the herd. Would you like to sponsor Leeso? Even $10.00 a month would help.

Marnie had quite a day today. He romped and played and raced all over the place. He thought he might be friends with Rosie, but Sparkle said No. He thought he might be able to bully Jesse, but Jesse said No. He followed Tess and Amira around, bucking and kicking for pure joy.

Stuart and Skittles have been loners for years. They have now found each other and hang out a lot. They wait at the top while everyone else follows the trailer down while I feed. When I come up they are waiting to be fed. Skittles likes to chase Stuart from each pile of hay, then they settle down and eat together.

Skittles is a beautiful girl. Sweet, too. She loves the top turnout and won't venture out of it.

Stuart is a Kiger mustang and is a sweet boy, too.

Amira has the most gentle soft eyes. She and Tess followed me all over so I could get some pictures of them. Both girls need sponsors.

Helen trained Amira to ride without much trouble. She is a very willing, loving girl.

Tessie is an Arabian mare over 30 years old. Aaron tried to catch her today to trim her feet and she gave him a merry chase for about 15 minutes. She is a wonderful girl. She and Amira are so close. Marnie loves them, too.

Both girls had a good drink.

Tessie's registered name is Intense.
She was an endurance horse.

The girls enjoy their "out" time. When it's dinnertime I lead Tess to the barn and Amira follows .

Gracie found a hidey spot in the trees.

Time for Jim to get another 92 bales of hay for the week.

Jesse joined Sparkle and Rosie for lunch.

This is the view from my front window. Jim built the house so I can see horses from every window.
