Fog, Escapes, Work and Rest Jan. 6 2010

Lexi is the first to greet me at the lower barn every morning and evening.

NorCal Equine Rescue has agreesd to take Olive. We know they will find a good home for her. They are very careful with their adoptions to make sure the horses never have to worry again.

Thank you Tawnee and Jason.

The fog enclosed the ranch this morning. Fuzzy blurs moved around.
Suddenly a blur came closer. Oh No!! Which horse made a great escape this morning? Was it Braveheart, Aurora, Tory , or Jesse? No! It was Chardonnay. She escaped, got put away, escaped again, was put away again and then escaped again. All today. Finally, we put her in an inescapable stall. (Well, it is escape proof, unless she opens the gate as some can do)
The sun never came out, but the calves did. They still have a bottle 3 times a day, but eat grass all day long. They love to eat, run and romp. They know their names and sometimes come when called.
Larry Wilson was here again to finish cleaning the stall. Can you believe 2 full trailer loads full? His worms will be so happy.
When one equine sleeps another will often stand guard. Today while Belle slept blind Charles stood watch over her. He stayed there until she got up. They truly take care of one another. it is a good lesson for all of us.
Thank you to all who have made Home At Last a real sanctuary for the animals.
