Little Grace wondered what today would bring. Would things be dull and quiet, or would there be new adventures?
What in the world do olives have to do with Home At Last? The first escapee this morning was Leeso. He had been separated from buddies Warrior and Stoney. He gave us a few days to realize our mistake, then took matters into his own hands, er hooves. He galloped around to show us how free he was then ran to the gate and stood waiting until we could get there and let him in.
Stoney ran up to him and they snuzzled until the food arrived.
Then in the broad daylight Lady Bug made another escape. She had just been let out of the stall and before we could get back to the house she was out! She had a little romp , then wanted back in. This time she went in with Dunnigan. Those two can plot and conspire on how to get out of steel panels. I'm sure they will find a way to do it.
Banjoe and Julian are enjoying the grass in our backyard. They spend most of the day mowing the weeds. Then they curl up, chew their cud, and take a nap. They are sweet babies. Who could slaughter and eat them? Not us.We have working relationships with many folks. One of our favorite friends is Larry Wilson of Wilson's Worms. (530-538-8242) Larry comes, scoops, shovels, loads and hauls away our manure. Because we use fly preditors there is no fly poison in our horse manure. His worms get good pure tasty(?) manure.
Larry came today and spent quite a while clearing the upper barn. He'll come back soon as there is always more manure. His removal helps keep down the fly population.
This afternoon friend Margaret and I headed to an olive orchard where a horse has been abandoned. The former owners just moved away and left her. The new owner wanted to make sure she could find a good home.
The horse is beautiful. She might be a Tennessee Walking Horse as she pranced around for us. She is very friendly and really needs a good home. Would you be willing to sponsor "Olive"?Sponsorship helps the horse and is tax deductible. For only $5.00 a day, the cost of a latte, you could guarantee Olive would never be hungry again.
