Today's greeter is Rico. He is a wonderful Thoroughbred boy who was given to us by his loving owner. Rico has an injury that makes him stumble and fall. He became unsafe to ride, so his owner did the responsible thing and found him a forever home. He has his best horse friends Chance and Pedro and they are usually inseparable. He is a funny boy. His former owner called him a joker and she's right. When it's time to deworm him he is uncatchable. Even if he can't see the medicine he disappears. Any other time he's a love and in your lap.
We had rain last night and that means MUD. When I start fussing in July about the heat and in August about the flies and in September about the lack of water-remind me how I complained about the mud in February. We do love the rain and our wells are doing nicely so I'll stop fussing.
Banjoe and Julian help prune the plants. When I get ready to put in the garden they are going to have to find another place to nibble. There is a huge area for them in the back, but since the mountain lion has been sighted again we don't want them out of our sight until they are bigger
Someone told me that when she passed our ranch and the horses were spread out along the front fence it looked like a huge necklace with many colored jewels on it. What a nice thought. All my jewels spread out for the passing cars and trucks to see. They certainly are precious.
Twice a day Jim loads 4 bales of hay on the little trailer. Not bad for a guy whose arm was paralyzed a few years ago. It works great now. Thank goodness
Keecha and Love like to wander in the tall grass near the front fence. We will have to halter a couple of horses and bring them out to graze.
Beth enjoys "her" truck.
When we moved to Yankee Hill I remembering saying something about not having a lot of "stuff" just parked all over. At last count we had 4 pick-up trucks (3 running and 2 are street legal), 2 boats that are not sea worthy, 2 horse trailers (1 user friendly), 4 tractors of various sizes (2 running), and 3 hay trailers (1 borrowed). Now that's just our stuff. Also, here is one 5th wheel trailer, 1 boat, 3 motorcycles, 1 truck and 1 steam roller that are just "visiting." When I mention to Jim that we may be overdoing it a little he reminds me that 50+ equines, 4 dogs, 7 cats and a whole herd of chickens and guineas might be considered by some to be overdoing it, too. That usually ends the discussion.
Ruby and Tory are still mad because I wouldn't let them out. Tory wouldn't eat as long I was in the barn and Ruby kept banging on the gate so I could get a clue about letting her out. Sorry, kids, the ground is too wet.
The evening clouds allowed some sunshine about the time the sun set. Thank you Ron Massey http://www.buttedesign.com/ for volunteering your time to help me with the computer. Your patience with this techoidiot is much appreciated.
I see Rico is still being his silly self, and still HATES to be dewormed. Please give him a big hug for me:-) LH.
