Day of Beauty and Amazing Lexi 3-16-2010

Today was a day of beauty from sunrise
To the setting sunAnd all sorts of things in between

A blooming shrub,
A delicate mushroom,
The bamboo,
The Indian Gypsy Pirate Princess,
The hay we feed,
Even the poison oak. Two things were definately not pretty.
1. The smell from the chicken yard. Sorry, Ladies and Gentlemen , I'll clean it as soon as I can. And 2- Oh, dogs. Don't you think I have enough to do?
Babe and Lacey managed to lock themselves in a stall. How they closed the gate behind them I'll never know. They enjoyed dining in this morning.

Keecha found an old sock in the trash and had a lot of fun with it.

If the warm days continue, these muck boots can be put away for a while. By dinnertime Lacey, Babe and Navajo had come to the side fence where they could eat in peace.

Lexi Lexi and her sidekick Grace came from So Cal. They were well-loved and cared for. (Grace had been abused previously). Lexi is a real character. She takes long, deep naps. She sleeps so soundly that sometimes you wonder if she is still breathing. Obviously she and her people has great communication. Two things have happened that show me she knows what is being said. First- The other day she and Grace were out grazing. Afterwards I put them in a turnout with other horses. They had not been in this turnout nor with these horses before. Grace sneaked under the fence and Lexi missed her. She called and called to her. Finally, I told Lexi if she would walk around the other horses and go to the gate, I would let her out and she could go to the barn. As I started toward the gate Lexi walked way around the other horses and met me at the gate. I opened it and she walked striaght to the barn with Grace trotting behind her. Second-Today she united the gate and let herself out into the big turnout. She wandered around for a while, but was ready to come in when I fed. She was on the side of the barn in the gooey mud by the water tank. I told her to back up, go around the barn and I would let her in at the gate. By the time I got to the gate she was waiting for me. She could not see me through the barn, but she knew just where I would be
Lexi, you are AMAZING!! Thank you, Cathy, for sending her to us.
