Sunny Sunday march 14 2010

It was a perfect Sunday morning with 50's music blasting through the open window to the back deck where 2 girls and one little goat were rocking out.

Mr S's ear is healing nicely. At the ranch everythings serves many purposes. The horse trailer becomes a calf barn.
The dump truck roof becomes a dance floor.
The steam roller becomes an aerial perch for songs and games.
On a more peaceful level Julian and Banjoe watch as Jim brings the trailer in. This load of hay will last 8 days!!!
Someone is coming. The greeters are off to do their job.
Everyone loves Helen.
Look who's here, girls. It's Helen with treats.
She had some luck today with Sugar. Tummies triumph. Here is last year's Christmas tree growing out of its pot. Time to plant it. Digging is not easy. We live on a rock!!! There was a little space with soil.

AHA. Made it in the ground. Next year we'll decorate it for the birds to enjoy.

This is how our front yard looks in March. Soon I'll start planting seeds. The seeds that make it usually do well. It's a matter of survival of the fittest. The calves have pruned the poppies so there will be no blooms this year.
What is a hippo doing at a horse sanctuary? True, hippopotamus means river horse, but that's not the reason it's here. When I taught school, hippos were our classroom mascot. It's a left over from a long time ago. Thanks to Rivera Concrete for donating the dump truck. You didn't know it's possibilities, did you?
