Windy Rainy Easter Sun. April 4 2010

It is a testament to my love for the horses that I braved the elements to feed tonight. The wind was howling, the raining was sleety and stingy and it was cold. In order to face the weather it was necessary to get properly dressed.
First layer is regular clothes, at least regular for us- jeans, shirt, sweatshirt and jacket.
Second layer- bedraggled hat and heavy socks.
Third layer -rain pants, and jacket with hood and rubber boots. Since the jacket has to be huge to fit over the hat and coat, the visor usually slips down and blocks the view. Hence the hat underneath the visor. It is a sight to behold. I look like a big green slippery marshmallow.
The tractor plods through the goo while I slip and slide while feeding. More than once I ended up with a mouthful of hay. Everyone got double or triple rations to get through the storm.

It is Easter and Mac and Beth modeled their holiday outfits. They share nicely.
Since it was too miserable to take pictures today, here are some more views of the ranch. The trees provide shelter for those who choose not to go in the barn in this terrible weather.

All the horses will be glad when the good weather returns. Maybe we won't even complain about the heat and the flies for a while. Oh, I did oil the mosquitoes again.
Had some wonderful visitors yesterday. Thank you , Martin, for bringing your family. Thank you, Lisa, for coming by. Thank you, Jenny, for spending time with the horses.
Thank you, Easter Mule, for all the goodies you left.
