Heartbreak and Outrage

Jim and I are in a state of heartbreak and outrage. NorCal Equine Rescue's blog last night told of the horrors of slaughter bound horses. In truth I could not read all of it. The conditions of the poor horses are so shocking that it is almost unbelievable. Please, look at it, but be prepared for the most awful abuse you can imagine.Tawny called this morning to see if we could take the blind Appy mare. Of course, we could. The poor dear horse never made it here. The vet felt her suffering was so great that euthanasia was the kindest choice for her.

We know and love each animal at Home At Last. To think that there are people out there who are so cruel and uncaring is more than we can bear. We want those people punished, jailed and banned from the animal industry. We want the officials who turn a blind eye to this abuse to be punished, jailed and banned from the animal industry. We want anyone who was aware of this abuse and did nothing to be punished.

Those who think slaughter is the answer to the horse overpopulation don't realized the torture and agony the horses go through just to get to the slaughter house. What are we going to do?

Who can look into these beautiful, trusting eyes and doom them to such abuse?

We are supposed to be a caring, loving species. We are supposed to take care of all the creatures on the earth. We are not supposed to be the ones who torment them.

Even those animals whose time is limited, deserve all the love and care we can give them. They deserve our best. They deserve the respect you give to other living beings.

Please, look deep into your hearts and do something to stop this horrible, heartbreaking abuse. Insist the enforcement officers do their jobs. Write, email, call everyone who can shut down the slaughter houses. Stop the transport of slaughter bound animals. Don't turn your head if you see an abusive situation, speak up.

No creature should live in fear or pain. They should have the love and care they deserve. The greatest sin of all is to see evil and do nothing.

Thank you, Tawnee and Jason, for the strength and courage to stand up to these bad people. Thank you for helping the suffering animals. We support all you do.
