A Very Nice Tuesday

Good morning, sunshine. It promised to be warm today.
Yesterday we celebrated Father's Day with Jim's folks and celebrated Ursula's birthday, too. Nothing beats a good meal with friends and family.
When the weather gets hot the animals need more salt. Jet is taking advantage of one of the many blocks we have. We can always use more, though.

After the dogs and I finished feeding this morning, Keecha decided to cool off in the fish pond, otherwise known as the primordial swamp. We can't run the filter because it would kill all the polliwogs. The Pacific Chorus frogs have decided to make the swamp their home. They sing their thanks every night.

Love chose to cool off in the breezeway but.....

Keecha stayed in the pond.

Zoe found a cool spot in the shade, but......

Keecha just hung out in the pond. The frogs, polliwogs and fish don't bother her. Posey stayed in the shade, too. She is losing her winter coat with the dapples and is the prettiest steel grey. She is a minihinny. Her mom was a donkey and her dad a horse (minis, of course). She still doesn't trust people.

In the house the cats kept taking catnaps. Fiesty and Princess have accepted Patches as their own. Today Princess gave him a bath, washing his ears and face over and over.

They slept under the fans.
They slept on, over and under each other. Do you remember when we first got the calves? They had not been fed nor cared for. Two died.
We were not sure we could save any of them. They were so thin and weak. Jim still worries that they are not getting enough to eat so he feeds them "treats" several times a day. Julian looks healthy to me.
Banjoe's belly is huge. They are so lovable. They give kisses and hugs and love to be petted. They are intelligent and make wonderful pets.

The evening brought some clouds and that made it muggy while doing our evening chores. It was in the 90s.

Jonathan offers some loading pointers to Jim.

Good Night, Moon. Good Night, All.

We'd love to hear from you. homeatlastsanctuary@gmail.com 530-514-1439
