No Vet and Two Boxes

When the vet's office called and said he had to cancel because of so many equine emergencies we felt badly for the many colicky horses, but also like kids who had been given a day off from school. No surgery for Frankie and a reprieve for the "oldies." We decided to stretch our budget and feeding protocol and go buy extra goodies to see if an"extra" push might help the oldies.
We set off for the Post Office and found a surprise box there.
A wonderful friend, Diane Pini, had rescued Daisy when she was placed on Craigslist for $1.00. Diane knew that the killer buyers would get Daisy and take her to slaughter, so she bought her and turned her over to NorCal Equine Rescue. Nor Cal called us to see if we could take her. Daisy is totally blind and needed special care. Of course, we had room for her.
That's how we got to know Diane. She kept in touch with us and sent many wonderful and generous donations.
Her special gift that came today was 6-yes six- brand new fly masks. Thank you, Diane, you are truly one of the horses' special angels. We can always count on Diane to help us. Daisy will get one of the new masks. Then we went to Chico to get our special food for the old guys. While there I saw a kitten in a large cage. I pointed it out to Jim, and told the man behind the counter, "No,thank you, we don't need another cat. We already have 8."
When I finished paying Jim had the kitten in a box ready to come home. He just couldn't leave the little thing there all by himself. It's no wonder I love that man. Anyway, as soon as we got into the truck, the kitten-Patches- crawled into my lap and slept all the way home.
We didn't notice what the box said until we brought the box in. We did not follow the instructions.
Fiesty was not sure exactly what that little thing was. Oh, how soon we forget our youth.

Patches made himself at home right off.

What's under here?

Princess is sure that black and white thing is a getter.
Patches seems to know that Jim was his rescuer.

He's a sweet boy with lots of energy.
Such a little boy in such a big world.

Cat Nap time.
The old guys enjoyed their enhanced feeding. Come on, guys, put on some weight.
We are so touched by the emails and phone calls supporting us on what could have been a difficult day. There are so many caring, loving people out there who put the needs of others before themselves. Thank you and bless all of you. You make life a joy.
I had a good talk with Lisa, Frankie's mom. She was able to talk to Dr Darling beetween his emergency calls and maybe, just maybe, Frankie won't have to have surgery. A biopsy will be done first.
Must quit now as Patches has discovered the computer and it is hard to type around a kitten.
