Plein Air and Larry's Worms

The morning started foggy and cool, but it was very warm this afternoon. We had an interesting day.
The Plein Air artist group from Paradise came to Home At Last today to see what we do and to do some art work. Of course, Zoe dog had to welcome everyone.

There were beautiful pictures being sketched and painted.

Some of the ladies relaxed and enjoyed the peace that is part of the sanctuary. They took pictures to be used later.
They enjoyed hearing stories about the the animals. And the critters enjoyed showing off for them.
Some wandered to get different views. Some went way down the road. Some got comfy and drew and drew. Thank you, ladies, we enjoyed having you visit.

Rico's abcess still needs treatment so he is bunking with the calves. Word has it he hasn't always found cattle endearing, but they are managing to tolerate one another. While feeding this morning, Gracie decided she wanted a dust bath. She plopped down in front of the tractor while I was driving. She knew I'd stop for her.

First she rolled one way, then got up to do the other side.
Ah!!! That feels good.

Larry Wilson from Wilson's Worms came to start hauling away a Winter's worth of manure. He'll use it for his worms next year. Boy, were we glad to see him. The flies are already bad.

He'll have many trailersful.
Good job, fellas.
Mmmmm. Good worm food.
Down to the lower barn for more goodies. Home At Last is not a fancy operation, but we are full of love and respect for the animals here.
We still need fly masks and donations. homeatlastsanctuary@gmail.com
Thanks, everyone, for a great day.
