Friends, Fun and Flies

Our poor little fly predators are having a really hard time keeping up with the number of flies we have this year. Is anyone else having a problem? We are trying all sorts of measures and the flies just keep arriving. Maybe the dragonflies will help. Picture this. A rather tall, very grey, somewhat clumsy 66 year old woman traipsing along singing A Tisket A Tasket scattering fly predators around the garden. Personally, I thought that would have scared the flies away, but Oh No. I think I saw them calling their friends, holding their little sides, laughing. We are even trying the pennies in water in a plastic baggie. Still lots of flies.
Our friends Doris and Paul came from Covina (my old stomping grounds ) and we had a great visit. We were in each others' weddings and have shared lots of good and bad times. We have learned lots from each other, too. When we first met at Cal Poly, Pomona in 1964, Doris learned that a gelding is not the way a horse wears its hair. I learned I was not the only young bride who wore flannel nightgowns when it was cold.
Jim, Paul and Zoe have a good talk. Zoe tried to convince them she had never been given any love, attention, or food. The fact that she looks like a little sausage might prove her wrong.
Doris loves all the critters. She claims to be a city girl but gets right in there when chores needed doing.

Dunny asked for special treats.
Way to go, Doris. Thanks for all your help and the late night talks.

Thank you, Tractor Supply Company Oroville for the dog treats. Love is really enjoying her chew. Frankie has been rubbing his stitches and has opened his wound. We tried everything to keep him from doing it. Then we went to the Horse Store and More in Chico and found a neck wrap. Thank you, Donna Mathis. If you need good horse items please, stop by and see them.
They are at 2827 Esplanade Chico. 530-345-5353.
Bobbie's and Dancer's abcesses are healing nicely. Juan is using more and more of his hoof all the time. Lexi's neck is completely healed. Some of the horses who we can't catch are suffering from flies in the eyes, but everyone else is super.
Tomorrow is volunteer day. I'll try to remember the camera.
