Volunteer Sunday and New Fur Friends

This morning the clouds were beautiful. They also were so thick that Jim had to run the generator for about an hour before the sun went to work. It was hot and muggy for a long time. Then it was just plain HOT.

Frankie's new neck wrap seems to be working. We'll still have Dr Darling look at his surgery site when he comes again. Frankie has been getting a pain reliever to help ease the itchiness at the site. Frankie and Moon Dancer enjoy a little treat morning and evening.

Volunteers Marti and granddaughters, Grace and Miranda, came today. They worked in the lower barn.

The mules enjoyed the attention.

More. Brush me more.

Even mules love to be loved.

Hey!! That's Jason from Norcal.

We thought we were getting one new friend, but a quick call to Tawnee means two new friends.

Meet Dobbin a 32 year old donkey. Isn't he beautiful? He still has his shaggy winter coat. Boy, that must be hot.
Frankie welcomes Dobbin as Jim takes him down the drive. The halter is coming off and Dobbin can roam around like Jonathan does.

Here's Rosie. Rosie has very tender feet.
NorCal felt she would be unadoptable because of her foot issues.

Jason heads down the drive with Dobbin in front.
Jim, Leah and Carly make Rosie feel she is Home At Last.

Cash and Jesse say Hi to Dobbin. After we walked Rosie by on the way to the lower barn, Dobbin lay down and is still resting. He found a soft spot in the hay and crashed. I didn't take any pictures because I didn't want to bother him.

It's hard for Rosie to walk because of her tender feet. Tomorrow we will move Bobbie and let Rosie have the hay covered calf pen.
Jason and Jim check on former Norcal residents. Everyone looks good.

Who is Jason photographing?

Why Jonathan, of course. I wonder if the donkey boys will get to know each other?

Thank you to our great volunteers- Marti, Grace, Miranda, Tina, Leah and Carly. You make a difference to the animals. They love having you tend to them. Welcome-Rosie and Dobbin. Thank you NorCal.
