Volunteers Make Sunday a Fun Day

Sue and Laura were the first volunteers to arrive. Frankie got his neck washed and SWATted. He get his meds every day and is doing very well. Moon Dancer stayed close and got lots of love. Then Bobbie and Tory were moved down to the calf pen where they got a bath and cleaned. Tory was put in with Rico in hopes they would bond, but it's not happening so Tory will go down with Lexi and Gracie tonight. He still needs extra food. Bobbie is in with Ruby, Pedro and Navajo. She will keep to herself, but get plenty to eat in there.
Tory is telling on Rico. "He chases me and scares me. Get me out of here." OK Tory. We'll save you.Banjoe and Julian like horses. They even let me fly spray them today.

Calli watches Sue as she watches the horses in the turnout.

Laura calls to Tiger Lily and Quincy to come in for a treat. Quincy and Lucky have been arguing for days. At 11 PM last night I had to go down to the lower barn and ask them to keep it quiet. They were squealing and kicking . It was 80 degrees that late.

Laura's gentle ways brought both horses in to see her. Quincy is still very afraid, but seem to be getting more used to people.
Tiger Lily likes to be loved.
I'll have some, please.
Sue is able to love both horses, too. Our goal is to get Quincy used to being handled.

Pico is always ready for a good grooming.

Lucky and Cricket tolerate all of us us going through their area. Cricket will eat out of the grain bucket, but not out of our hand yet. She moves out of our way but is not as panicked as she once was. She is a sweet girl and he is a Macho Macho man.

Little Cricket stays near Lucky. He protects her from the other horses.

Tina,, Leah and Carly came and began to work on the mules. Juan really loves all the attention. Molly would let Carly brush one side, but not the other.

Quincy asked Sue for more love.

Pico's leg is longer than Carly is tall. What a handsome pair. Pico may be huge but he is so gentle and loving.

Thank you, ladies. You make Sundays a real treat for horses and people. See you next week.
Last night we were tired from our day at TSC, but we found a way to entertain ourselves. No one can say we don't have fun on the ranch. What is it we are doing?

Did you guess? Jim and Brian are trying to open our electric toothbrushes to put in new batteries. It wasn't as easy as it sounds. There were grunts and groans and finally a knife. Success!! Thank you, fellas. Now I can brush my teeth again. Fun, huh?
