Last winter we took in little Cedrick and Julian. Cedrick didn't make it. Then we added Banjoe and Benji and Benji didn't make it. Those were hard times. We fed the babies several times a day and really came to love them.
Banjoe and Julian have grown and are still big pets. They loved to be scratched and give kisses. If you never have had a calf kiss you have missed something. They have rough tongues, but are so gentle. They have the softest eyes and the longest lashes. (And the biggest bellies!!)
They will never be butchered. They are safe at Home At Last.
Well, the donkey foursome discovered the garden and would not stay out. Jenny, Jessie and Dobbin were chasing Jonathan away from his food, so those three are out in the big turn out now. Dobbin is so happy to be with the girls. He follows them all over and doesn't seem to miss us at all. After all we don't have those long, sexy ears.
Jonathan seems to be quite happy to have the yard to himself again.
OK Mocha for Mares. The last three months have been extra hard financially for Home At Last. The vet bill is close to $5,000. This includes 2 emergency calls, Frankie's surgery, dental work, etc. The CPA cost for filing the state and federal tax info for us is $1200. We are using four bags of food every three days at a cost of about $10.00 per bag. Plus we have our hay costs. We are now using 10-11 bales a day. If each person reading this would send the cost of a cup of coffee a day or a week it would be a great help. McDonald's coffee is 99 cents and Starbucks or Dutch Brothers can be up to $6.00. Would you- could you drink one less drink a day or a week and send it to Home At Last for the horses?
Thank you
