Patches thought it was a good idea, too. He helped them all afternoon. Learning to get along and be kind to one another is part of the Home At Last mission. These sweet girls are very good at that.
Tina and Lindsey bundled up and headed to the lower barn. There are many horses in the barn and the wind had them really riled up. Tina and Lindsey got to see just how powerful stirred up horses can be. They wisely decided stall cleaning will be left for another day. Even the most gentle can be upset by the howling wind and rattling barn sides. Because horses use their ears to detect predators the wind and all the wind sounds keep them from hearing properly and that scares them.
Before everyone left Wild Bill made an escape and 5 of us hurried him back into his pen. He is missing his friends and went looking for them. He does not like the barn and had to be put into a stronger pen.
The rain had stopped by evening feeding and tomorrow we will put the stalled up horses out.
Wild Bill will get to be back with his friends.
The blankets got a good rinsing. Let's hope they get dried now.
It's important to remember just how powerful horses are. Winter seems like the time folks get hurt more often. Please, be careful and keep your horses safe, too.
