Rascals with 4 Legs

The day started with a glorious sunrise and a promise of no rain for a while. That's good because the last storm was a gully washer and frog strangler as an old friend used to say.

Patches always knows where it is the warmest. It's a good thing that Santa loves kitties because the three inside cats have become possessed over decorations. In fact we are down to two measly decorations on the table. This particular black and white feline has destroyed everything festive he could find. Just now he rolled the two decorations on to the floor and is trying to dig them out of the box where I put them to keep from getting broken. Now we are down to no decorations.

Maybe next year we can have a few celebratory items, though Feisty and Princess are almost as bad as Patches. Sure they look sweet and cozy now, but just let a sparkly bough or snowman show its face and it's in jeopardy.

Good old Mac tries to keep the kitties in line, but he's out numbered.

After the storm Jake let the herd in to the barn and then he, Smoke, Smokey and Sweetie Pie escaped and finally were rounded up into the round pen. (Rounded up-round pen- oh never mind. It's been a silly day). They spent a night there, but last night Sweetie Pie practiced her drum playing on the metal water tub.

At 11PM Jim and I got up to talk to her about this. Then someone in the lower barn started the barnside banging and of course, the donkeys and mules thought we were going to give everyone a midnight snack.
It was well after midnight when things quieted down, so we decided to move the escapees back to the big turnout today. This sounds easy, but because Sweetie Pie and Smoke escaped again while we were leading Jake and Smokey we had another wild rumpus.
Sweetie Pie and Smoke tore around the yard doing their impressions of the Flying Wallendas. Sweetie Pie sailed over a large tree trunk we have. She was beautiful. Smoke did a Quarter Horse shuffle and went around the tree at the last minute. They chased donkeys, mules and the mini. Quest and Sparkle stayed out of the romp.
Finally, they raced to the barn and waited for me to turn them out with their friends.

Though it was sunny it still was chilly today. Patches took advantage of the warm laundry.

By afternoon the fog and clouds were back- promising more rain soon. that's good. Lake Oroville is low again and our water table needs replenishing.
Watch out gullies and frogs. More washing and strangling due.

Home At Last has the best supporters. Thank you Eileen for another blanket, and Maurya for the donation.
The next two Saturdays will find us at the Tractor Supply Company in Oroville from 10-2 offering pony rides and a chance to meet Sparkle. Come on out and say Hi. We love to see our old friends and to make new ones.
