Celebrating the Sunshine

2011 is three days old already. What is it about us humans that like new beginnings? We have a beginning of the day, the beginning of the week, the beginning of the month and the beginning of a new year. I guess either we make so many mistakes we need new beginnings to start over or we just like to have a reason to celebrate.
I'll stick with the celebration part. Certainly the long and petite ears like to celebrate the warm sunshine.
This side of the house faces east and the critters are there every morning to soak up the warmth. Jenny, Jessie, Dobbin, Jonathan and Gracie take their celebrating seriously.

The solar panels are in their Winter upright position, ready to work. They have had a few days of rest with the rain and cloudy weather.
The day was so beautiful I'll even celebrate the mud. I'm thinking of ways to raise money with the mud. Do you think beauty salons would like some for a facial mud pack? It certainly is packed with "organic" materials. The horses are gorgeous in the Spring so it must be beautifying. Let me know if you can think of ways to use this plentiful resource.

Callie took advantage of the hill near the minis. Some think she looks like the ancient horses. Her knee aches in the cold weather, but she travels all over the ranch.

Quest had been in the barn for a few days and was not happy about having to go out, until he found his warm spot. Isn't he just the most beautiful boy? I love that old horse. He used to take me for a ride now and then.

Breeze Bay is still penned, but found her breakfast in the sun. She'll get to go out soon.

Yesterday Levi II got to be out and about. Today he had to stay in while others had their turn in the great outdoors. He had a mud bath and was quite proud of his new look.

It was Rosie's turn to be out and Juan tried talking her into leaving her stall. Juan loves Rosie and she tolerates him.

Sweetie Pie looked longingly to the great outdoors.

She has to stay in until her eye heals a little more.
It's looking much better and the infection is gone.

Come on, Rosie. Juan is still waiting for you. Eventually, she went out and Juan stayed right next to her. He was so happy to have her nearby.

Cash had to stay in, also. He'll get moved to the outside soon.

Babe and Lacey were out yesterday with Jesse, Levi II and Sparkle. They had to stay in. If we let too many out at one time the back yard becomes a race course and it can get dangerous. The donkeys, Gracie, Callie and Juan are always out.
Babe is still thin after her bout with the Strangles. She is checked by the vet every time he is here. At 20+ years it is hard to put on weight.

It was time for Lexi, Tess and Amira to have outside time, too. They enjoyed their day of freedom. The loose ones get to wander all over the back yard eating hay off the trailer or truck, the grass and whatever else they can find.

Ruby, Rico, Pedro, Harmony and Chance soaked up the rays.

Even the goats took advantage of the day.

This is what is left of the front yard. The donkeys have found the shrubs to be especially tasty.

The new year brings with it hope for better, happier, healthier times. The animals at Home At Last celebrate each day and make us glad we re here. We invite you to become a part of the Home AtLast Family.
We hope you will continue to support the animals. Thank you Red Rock Biologics and Valerie D for your donations.
