The camera has decided to take the day off so it will pictureless again.
The icy fog dripped on things then froze. Was very pretty, but very cold this morning. Horses kept disappearing, then reappearing in the fog. The barned horses were waiting to see whose turn it was to get out.
Lexi and Ruby have been sharing the round pen so they got to go. Then Babe, Lacey, Sparkle, Levi II and Quest. Of course the donks, 2 mules and Gracie.
Everyone loves to gallop a little, nibble a lot and maybe catch a nap or two. Quest ran up the hill with his tail flowing out behind him. He may be getting old, but he's not slowing down. Levi II pranced and Sparkles sparkled.
At dinnertime I put the others away and let out Breeze Bay and Cash with the idea that they would romp a bit, then be ready to go into a turnout. Well, they romped a lot-up, down, and all around until they had everyone stirred up. When Jim caught Breeze she was ready to go in and Cash followed peacefully.
As I took the tractor down the driveway I noticed Jonathan was down and could not get up. Honked for Jim who helped him up. Jonathan was shaky for a bit, but started eating right away and was fine. Always scary when one goes down and can't get up.
Went to the doctor for my sore spot. Well, after a brief check-up and hearing the mud story (see yesterday's blog) he started laughing. He thought it was a mud injury and should heal itself just fine. I love his philosophy. If it gets better-good. If not-come back. He did say it was my fault that the boot is on the roof.
Received a nice donation from Rose Miller of Rose Miller Books and More. She writes about her mules and Tennessee Walkers. She's also a supporter of NOT soring-a cruel method some people use on their TW horses to make their gaits exaggerated. Her books are great. Check her out at www.rosemiller.com. Some of the profits from her books are donated to non-profits like Home At Last. Thank you, Rose.
Don't forget to vote for Sparkle . TractorSupply.com/OutHere then current issue horse tales and vote. Your vote will help us to win feed from Nutrena.
When rescues work together, the horses benefit. Thank you, HorsePlus, for your continued support.
Will sweet talk the camera, give it some juice and put it to bed. Maybe tomorrow it will feel like working again.
