Fog Blog

Saturday the camera was working and I was ready to blog but the computer said No Thank You. Usually, the fog sneaks through the canyon over the Feather River and up Oroville Lake. It pauses and often gives us breathtaking views.
Usually, it behaves itself and stays over the hill, but sometimes it comes in and kisses the trees and the landscape.

Then it clears and we have a beautiful day.

Yesterday was a Fog Rebellion. It came in full force Friday night and wrapped itself around us like a boa constrictor. The best thing to do was stay inside and do chores. Now, I don't want you to think just because I'm a Barn Diva doing the feeding, mucking, watering, etc. and just because Jim is the far better cook than I am that I am not also a domestic goddess. I can mend things. The fly masks were freshly washed and sorted-usable, in need of mending and done for. The done fors were ripped apart to be used where needed.

Then I sat down with needle, thread and helper Patches. We sewed, wove and generally had a good time. We fixed quite a few, but can always use more. (I know it's way too early for flies but...). So when you order fly masks for your critters, how about ordering one or two extra for the Home At Last herd? Or send me your used, but still useful ones and Patches and I will mend them. Thank you. We need all sizes, For donkeys, too.

It was a great day for football, a good book, a snuggly wrap (thanks Helen) and a lapful of cats. Mac stayed on his blanket at our feet and we all had a restful day. This was the best it got weather wise.
There were horses out. Lexi took some loose hay and made a wonderful bed. She slept while Ruby stood watch. Sparkle, Tess, Amira and Jesse joined the regulrs for a day of munching.
Today Rosie, Levi II, Quest, Babe and Lacey have the run of the place.

Mostly, the fog just stayed put and so did we.

By afternoon the horses were disappearing and reappearing like specters from a scary movie.

It's a little better today. Our volunteers should be here. More tomorrow if weather, camera and computer cooperate.
