Thurs March 18 2010

I got up at 5 this morning . Beth and Fiesty had homework to do so they were up shortly after I was. Fiesty ponders the questions.
I know the answer. Let me write it. Princess slept in.
The wind was blowing from the south this morning. It was OK if the hay was thrown with the wind, but if it was thrown against the wind, I kept my mouth closed. Beardless wheat is not my favorite breakfast food.
Mr. S does better each day. Today he spent most of the day running, hopping and eating. Hey, who is in the next pen? Here are some of the views that he has when he stops playing and takes a rest.

Su and Jerry raise Gypsy Vanner Horses. They are a beautiful, gentle useful breed. Here is mama Skye and baby Echo. Echo had a difficult start in life (Su and I slept on the floor of the barn to keep an eye on him). Now Su is writing a children's book about him.

Back at Home At Last
Aren't mule ears wonderful? Since a mule has a donkey mother and a horse dad, they get their ears from good ole mom. Molly and Tucker are great. Molly is a little shy, but Tucker is a real extrovert.

The guineas have begun to lay eggs again. Their eggs are smaller and have a rougher, darker shell than chicken eggs. The are a much richer egg, too.
Navajo, the donkeys and Dunny have learned to follow the trailer down the road to eat without being bothered. Equines have their own version of Musical Chairs. It's called Musical Hay Flakes. Everyone moves the next horse to the next flake. Not all the horses like this game.
Trixie and Tess still hang out together. They were watching some of the horses push each other around for the best pile of hay.
I kept looking for shade while I fed this afternoon, so I decided to check the thermometer It was 70 degrees in the breezeway and that's the coolest place around.
I'm ready to start complaining about the heat, while we still have mud.
