There are a lot of skills to driving a tractor. We now use 10 bales a day. At $10.00 a bale that's a lot of money each day. Can anyone help? On the ranch everyone has chores. Here she comes, Thoroughbreds. There she goes. Thanks, Beth. Charles was getting thin and we added grain and beet pulp to his diet. He loves it and so does Belle. They enjoy their breakfast in the sunshine. Sweetie Pie, Tucker, Smoke, Bobbie and Lady Bug got to get out with Grace today to graze around the house. It wasn't long before Tucker found the baby goat pen and started to menace the babies. Knowing his reputation for killing pigs we were afraid he'd reach over the pen and get a goat. We had to put him away. As we were leading him to the barn Sweetie Pie was on his heels. Where Tucker goes, Sweetie Pie goes. They went back to the big turnout.
Sorry, Tucker, you had your chance to be out . Lady Bug the gaited mule asked to be let out with the others. She had more fun trotting around. Someone must have been harsh with her before we got her because she is still afraid of folks. She is a really pretty little girl.Bobbie enjoyed her out, too. She had lost some weight this winter, but another teeth floating and extra groceries has helped her become her "bossy" old self. Smoke is still afraid of people but couldn't resist the treats that were brought to him throughout the day. When it was time to go in he followed Bobbie into the stall and back to the big turnout. He and Bobbie had not been friends before but spent a lot of their time nose to nose, grazing.Grace is the princess of all she surveys. Can you imagine anyone abusing her?
The day has ended peacefully with little Grace enjoying her freedom and Jim attacking his ancestral plant- the thistle. No one can convince him the beautiful purple stickery things should be left alone. He is a shovel weilding terror on those poor plants.
Thank you to all of you. Your kind words and thoughts helped us through a difficult time.
