Skittles, Stuart, and Star joined Grace in al fresco dining today. Skittles was happy to come out for a while, but missed being in with her herd. She stood by the gate and asked to go in. She cantered all around when we let her in. Some horses just want to be with their herd. Stuart went out, came in and went out again. Then he went back in the stall to eat some hay. He came out again when he finished. Star wasn't too sure he wanted out until he found the grass. Star is a Tennessee Walking Horse with the equine equivalent of MS. He is a real lover.
Jonathan is happy at Home At Last. The horses he is with seem to respect his old age. They have food and water away from the others. He comes to greet me when I carry his hay to him down the hill. Tawny is enjoying his stay, too. Clouds and sun, sun and clouds all day long.
Aaron came to trim a few horses today. He and Beth gathered them and then the horses got their pedicure (or hooficure). Brandy is a good girl.
Besides the daily chores we have a lot of special projects that need doing.
A sailboat that needs fixing. A trailer that needs a lot of work.
A boat to be repaired.A stall to be put together.
A goat yard to be built. And, of course, the garden to be put in.
What is Jim doing with that doghouse? He's taking it to be a goathouse, of course. The goats check it out and Play their most favorite game- King of the Mountain.
There were sprinkles on and off all day. Not much, but enough to put the goats in the barn since they would go only on top, not in the dog house and for Jim to fabricate a calf shelter with tarps. Pictures tomorrow.
We had friends visit today and had a real scare. Their wonderful dog got "stung" on the electric fence and ran off. We all spent many worried hours until the dog was found. We all were so relieved that she just had an adventure and was not hurt.
It made us change our rules about visiting pets. Leashes only from now on.
Thank you for all your kind and thoughtful words. We appreciate them.
