Shades of Gray and White

It is often difficult to tell the difference between a gray horse and a white horse. A gray has dark skin pigment and the coat contains black and white hairs. Generally, grays are born dark and lighten as they grow older. Light grays appear white. There are flea bitten grays which have a white coat with dark specks like freckles. There are iron grays, and dappled grays which have dark rings on a white coat.
Grays and whites often have malignant melanomas, skin tumors. Sometimes the tumors are slow growing and do little harm, but in Frankie's case there is a tumor on his neck, pressing against his carotid artery. It will have to be removed.
Frankie is a gray Oldenburg. His "love" is Moon Dancer, an Appaloosa, who is gray also. She does not have any tumors, but did lose an eye to uveitis, common to Appys.
Belle is a white mule with no tumors . She is blind Charles' guide. Tory is a gray Anglo-Arab about 30 years old. He does not have any tumors, either. He does, however, enjoy moving the water tub around while Tawny tries to drink.

Braveheart is a gray Arab who does not have any tumors.
Gracie is white, really white, when she is clean. She has beautiful blue eyes and the cutest little ears. She is well formed and has a delicate body and leg structure. She's so cute you just want to snuggle her. She prefers that you don't.
Chardonnay and Aurora are two gray Arab mares.
Chardonnay has many tumors, especially in her tail area. They have caused her no problems yet, but are closely watched by the vet.

Aurora is a flea bitten gray, with her "freckles" showing. She has no tumors.

Posey and Sugar the mini hinnies are an iron gray. They have no tumors and if they did they wouldn't let us see them any way. People are not welcome in their world unless bearing food.

The other white critters include the goats- Mr. S., Zang and Grey (Zane Gray the author- a silly joke of ours).
Fiesty, like Gracie, has beautiful blue eyes, but he is in no way delicate or graceful. He's a moose in cat's clothing. Our last vet bill is way over $1000.00 Can anyone help us pay this? We still have dental work and a surgery upcoming. Thank you. homeatlastsanctuay@gmail.com

PS. Our beautiful Beth ready for the end of school dance.
