A Quiet Day At The Sanctuary

Ben the barn cat says Hello. He has a viral eye disease, and we have to watch him carefully.
Feeding is a big part of our day. We love to see friends eating together. Lexi is a sweet girl and shares her food with Molly mule. Sometimes they eat with Navajo. Both girls are healthy and shiny. Another pair of good friends are Belle and Charles. They are seldom apart.

Moon Dancer and Frankie now eat together even if there are two piles of hay. They move from pile to pile together.
Molly mule wants you to admire her long ears.

Rico likes Molly's ears so much that he has a floppy eared fly mask. Maybe he thinks he looks like a mule. It makes me laugh whenever I see them. Aren't the calves getting big? Even if Julian and Banjoe have just been fed, they holler for more when I pass with the tractor. The goats are growing, too.
When we feed we watch carefully to make sure we are doing the right thing. The horses who come to us thin and poor are specially fed. Jesse shows that we did the right thing for him.

When Cash came he was thin and lame. He looks and feels great now.

Jonathan's skin was raw in places where he had been rubbing it. His skin was scaly and dry. Now it is soft and his coat is becoming shiny. He has a big belly, too.
Twice a day Maggie B, Tawny, Tory, Braveheart and Bobbie get pails of special feed. They also, get as much hay as they can eat.
Maggie has only 3 chewing teeth, but as you can see she is flourishing with the special feed.
Bobbie has begun to put on some weight.

Tory has put on weight.

Braveheart is still very thin. He still has a week before the vet comes. Come on, Braveheart. Put on some weight. Tawny's ribs are somewhat covered, but he is painfully thin. Come on, Tawny. You can do it. Keep eating, boy.
Princess and Patches snuggle together. The three little kittens are very happy together. Good night, kittties.
Please, keep the horses in your thoughts. Thank you.
