Horsework Before Housework

First the GOOD NEWS!! Ruthie found a home for Dakota, Nevada, and Izzy!!! And they get to stay together. Thank you Villa Chardonnay Rescue in Temecula. When caring people work together good things happen. HURRAY!!!
Star came for a Hello is this morning. Some days his legs work. Some days they falter. Today is a good day.
He's a close up kind of guy. Lexi's wound is almost healed. She's off the antibiotics. We put SWAT on her to keep the flies away.

When anyone goes to the barn, the critters start showing up. It's really fun to see who will come for a visit.. This morning Pico said his eyes were bothered by the flies. Pico without his mask and

Pico with his mask. Usually he has it off in about 10 minutes, but he seemed to be enjoying it today.

Rico is lame again. Managing the herd is one of our more important chores. We move the critters around to where their needs can best be met. We moved Rico in with the calves, where the ground is softer and we can soak his foot often. When Jim and Brian put his foot in the warm water, he closed his eyes and fell asleep. We'll have Dr Darling work on it Friday.

Banjoe and Julian never seem to mind sharing their pen. I think it's because of all the extra feed.

The pen that had Rico, Lexi , Molly, Navajo, Ruby, Pedro and Chance in it now only has Navajo, Pedro and Ruby.
The three are happy with the shade.

There are odd couples at Home At Last. Pico and Jake are both powerful and impressive. Pico is regal and Jake is just massive.

We moved Molly mule to be in with Calli. Calli was lonesome and Molly could use a little extra food. Molly had flies bothering her eyes. I rubbed her pretty face then went to get the SWAT for her. She took one look at me and left the area. Loving-yes. Medicine-no Sweetie Pie and Tucker are another odd couple. She is a dainty little fireball and he is a rather large moose. They both are charasmatic and love people. She will eat only with him or Lady Bug- another mule. Sweetie Pie must know mules are terrific.

Calli is happy with the new turnout Jim put together this morning.

Lexi and Gracie don't mind having new neighbors. Gracie is wondering when we will fence in the garden so she can be free again.
Quest came for a visit.

Stoney is just about asleep. He had a good massage.

On the way back up to the house to start the dreaded housework, I saw a big lump. Look at the upper left hand corner of the picture. Can you tell what or who that is?

It's Posey! She is sacked out. Sugar was sleeping in their shed.

I finally made it inside to begin more cleaning. Patches found my shoes. MMMM Smelly footware.
I guess Patches needed to clean up after loving the shoes. He spent quite a while in the basin chasing his tail and having fun.

Thank you, everyone, for your kindness, love and support.
We can make a difference one animal at a time.
